Michael “Mike” Brouwer was born July 8, 1942, and died on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the age of 80. He left this life in the most loving, comfortable, and peaceful way possible, surrounded by his kids. God wrapped his arms around him and welcomed him home. His family is heartbroken to lose their rock but are comforted knowing he is no longer suffering and is reuniting with all those he loved and lost, especially his wife, Ina, who left us 23 years ago. He enjoyed his family most of all. He looked forward to all family events and outings. He built a career working in upper management of retail, where he was known to be fair and kind amongst those that had the pleasure of working with him. Upon retirement, he enjoyed as many events as possible with his 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Listening to his four daughters’ chatter was music to his ears. He loved spending time at his hunting camp with his sons Jim and David, many grandchildren, and other family that shared a love of the woods. He was an avid fisherman, spending many hours in the boat with his wife, Ina, enjoying the outdoors and bringing home food to feed his large family. As he slowed down with age, he enjoyed simply sitting in his front yard with his best 4-legged friend, Waylon. His neighbors enjoyed driving by and waving or stopping in for a quick chat. He did not know a stranger. He could talk to anybody and would always have a laugh.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife Ina (Banet); his infant grandson,
Jacob Williams; his parents, Wayne and Constance Brouwer; and his brothers, Ronnie, Jerry, and Leon. He is survived by his six children:
James (Diane Duhé) Brouwer, David (Tina Jacob) Brouwer, Rebecca
(Matt) Carlo, Cindy (Ron) Terrio, Teresa (Brandon) Terrio, and Michelle
(Adam) Williams. His seventeen grandchildren who have cherished their time with him: Ashley (Adam) Babin, Kristine (Austin) Thomas,
Justin DuBose, Luke Brouwer, Courtney Brouwer, Alex Carlo, Emma
Carlo, Katie (Todd) Millet, Karli (Eric) Ohlenforst, Kara (Philip) Poché, Kassidy (fiancé Mark Brien) Terrio, Ryan Breaud, Zachary Breaud, Morgan Williams, Faith Williams, Leah Williams. His seven greatgrandchildren Ava Babin, Owen Babin, Mason Thomas, McKenna
Thomas, Sutton Thomas, Maeve Millet, and Christopher Poché. And his dog Waylon.
He also was loved by so many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He and his brother-in-law Jack Ocken, bonded like brothers upon the start of dating Ina when he was embraced into the most wonderful Banet
family in 1963, and only grew closer over the years. Upon losing the
love of their lives after long, hard-fought battles with cancer, they only grew closer. They were each other’s person to help through the difficult transition to life as a widower.
