BOUTTE — Shawnya Williams has always had a passion for healthcare, whether she was working as a phlebotomist, in dialysis, or as a medical courier. With the opening of her new business, Accuity5 Solutions, Williams has discovered a new avenue that will allow her to continue serving others.
Accuity5 Solutions will celebrate its grand opening on January 17 at 13128 Highway 90 Unit 1 in Boutte. Services include DOT/non-DOT drug screening, alcohol testing, pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, and reasonable suspicion testing for the workplace. Drug screenings can be conducted via hair follicles, saliva screening or instant urine tests. According to Williams, other services include testing for drug courts, rapid antigen and PCR COVID-19 testing, gender reveals, paternity DNA testing, and routine labs.
Williams comes from a family that lives and works in St. Charles Parish, and she is excited to introduce Accuity5 Solutions to the community she calls home.
“In St. Charles Parish, we have a lot of plants and opportunities for employment. Now we have the technical school across the street. I wanted to start something here at home, where my family is. St. Charles Parish is a good place to live and work, and I believe there is a lot of opportunity here,” Williams said. “I will be focusing on people’s privacy and delivering accurate results. I would like to use my platform to help someone who may have just gotten out of school and is coming to get services, whether they are just stepping into the workforce or going into a change in employment. I want to be the one to ensure they are treated with confidentiality and respect.”
Accuity5 Solutions is not Williams’ first business. She owned her own company while working as a courier, delivering blood samples and other specimens back and forth to hospitals. After Hurricane Ida struck the River Parishes in 2021, Williams was dismayed to find her van was totally ruined. The prices of vehicles had skyrocketed, and she asked herself whether she wanted to pour money into purchasing another van or step into a new direction.
Williams asked the universe to send her an answer, and that’s exactly what she received. While browsing YouTube and Google, researching what other businesses she could get into, Williams continuously saw videos and ads related to drug screening. She began calling various agencies, asking what they offered and what would be involved with setting up her own drug testing business.
The past year has been a whirlwind of new information, and Williams decided to set the grand opening of Accuity5 Solutions for January 2023 to enter the new year with a fresh start.
“From going into facilities and doing the work to getting it all set up is an entirely different avenue and experience, but I’m always open to new information and learning new things,” Williams said. “I contacted a lot of labs and agencies like Medicaid and Medicare to make sure I had the proper credentials to do special collections and processing. Instead of just doing the work, it’s important to me to understand how it actually works.”
The community is invited to join Williams for a grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting with the River Region Chamber of Commerce at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17.
Business hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and by appointment only on Sundays. Lunch breaks will be from 11 a.m. to noon daily. Insurance and private pay will be accepted.
