Larry and Diane were owners and operators of “Pick’s for Paint” for 40 years. He was proud of the family and business he built and always had a hobby to focus on. His hobbies ranged from training Labrador retrievers, golfing, making knives, scrimshawing and etching knife handles, gunstocks and belt buckles, carving birds and ducks, and hunting and fishing. One common theme of his hobbies was using his art skills. He began turning hobbies after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He started with custom making fishing rods, which then grew to turning pens, then vases, small bowls, and platters. About 10 years into turning things, he had collected 4 lathes. Towards the end of his life, he also picked back up bird carving and would mount small birds on to vases. Larry was a life-long learner and joined many clubs and guilds. He was passionate about every hobby and skill he picked up, always gave 110% into what he was doing, and passed that strong work ethic on to his children.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA.
