LULING — In alignment with the Sewer Master Plan, the St. Charles Parish Department of Wastewater has hired a third-party company to perform smoke testing in Luling from December 14 through December 16, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Smoke testing is being done to identify separations in sewer pipes where water is infiltrating. Once completed, the Wastewater Department will repair the leaks by lining the pipes.
The following locations will be tested to check for breaks in wastewater lines: First Street, Second Street, Antoine Lane, Ashton Road, Bradwall Street, Court Street, Dees Lane, Ellington Avenue, Elvie Street, Evangeline Street, Ford Lane, Gassen Street to Luling Avenue, Lawrence Drive, Loupe Street, Luling Avenue, Lussan Lane, Manor Road, Martin Street, Milling Avenue, Mongrue Street, Paul Maillard Road to Easy Street, Ristroph Street, Roland Court, School Street, Sellars Avenue, St. Charles Boulevard, Sugarhouse Road and Webre Lane.
While the testing is performed, residents could see smoke rising in their yards, ditches and roof vents. It is also possible smoke may appear in homes that have interior broken pipes or drains that have not been recently used.
