Sheriff Greg Champagne is joining other local law enforcement agencies in participating in the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign which will run from August 19th through September 5th, 2022. The campaign is coordinated and funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
Drinking and driving in Louisiana remains a major cause of vehicle crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities. Of the traffic fatalities in 2020 among children 14 and younger, 21% (229) occurred in alcohol-impaired driving crashes.
“By joining this nationwide effort, we hope to make the streets of St. Charles Parish safer for everyone”, said Sheriff Champagne. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office will have increased officers on the road, aimed to reduce drunk driving.
Remember: It’s never okay to drink and drive. If you plan on drinking, plan on not driving.
