DESTREHAN – St. Charles Parish Hospital recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating a new ear, nose and throat (ENT) clinic at Ochsner Health Center – Destrehan.

The ENT clinic is equipped with new specialized pediatric equipment funded by a $100,000 donation from Valero Energy Corporation as part of the company’s 2021 Benefit for Children. Equipment includes pediatric scopes, an audiometer used to diagnose hearing deficiency and a tympanometer used to evaluate middle ear function and determine if pressure equalizer (PE) tubes are necessary, a common medical procedure necessary in some children to help decrease ear infections.

“We are so grateful to Valero Energy Corporation for their generous donation. Their support allows St. Charles Parish Hospital to continue to provide high-quality healthcare in our community, including our youngest patients. With the new space we will now be able to care for and treat patients of all ages with ear, nose and throat medical concerns right here in our parish,” said Keith Dacus, chief executive officer, St. Charles Parish Hospital.

In addition to the specialized ENT equipment, Valero Energy Corporation has donated $100,000 to the Ochsner Hospital for Children Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development through Benefit for Children and issued $10,000 in fuel cards to SCPH employees totaling $210,000 of in-kind support for Ochsner Health in 2021.

Otolaryngologists Marcie Tauzin, MDEmily Burke, MD, and audiologist Tanya Andrepoint are now seeing patients at the Ochsner Health Center – Destrehan ENT clinic. To schedule an appointment, please visit ochsner.org or call 985-764-7669.
