Westwego – On July 26, 2022, around 1:30 am, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single-vehicle crash on US 90 west near Live Oak Boulevard. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 53-year-old Terry Ralph of Boutte.
The initial investigation revealed that Ralph was driving a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck towing an enclosed trailer west on US 90 near Live Oak Boulevard. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet traveled off the roadway to the right and impacted a guardrail before traveling into a drainage canal, where it became partially submerged.
Ralph, who was unrestrained suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment on the part of Ralph is unknown and routine toxicology results are pending.
Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. While not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seatbelt greatly reduces the chances of being killed or seriously injured in a crash. Avoid distractions that take the driver’s focus away from the road. Having a plan and making safe decisions could be the difference for tomorrow.
