HAHNVILLE — St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell has appointed Jason Tastet as Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The St. Charles Parish Council confirmed the appointment unanimously at its meeting Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Tastet has been a member of the Emergency Operations Center team since 1998 and most recently served as Acting Director after Director Joe Ganote departed in June.
“Jason has served in our EOC for many years and I could not pick a better person to lead our Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness team,” said President Jewell. “His knowledge of our Parish coupled with his years of specialized training at every level will ensure our Parish is well prepared for any event.”
Tastet has 24 years of experience in emergency management in St. Charles Parish and has been part of creating plans, procedures and response guides connected to St. Charles Parish Government. During his tenure he has been present for every major event that has impacted the parish since 1998, including flooding, industrial emergencies, transportation accidents and tropical weather events.
