Children’s charities across the region and nation received a total of $500,000 Oct. 17 from employees and business partners of the Valero St. Charles Refinery, who helped raise the funds through sponsorship of the 2014 Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children Golf Classic in San Antonio. The checks were presented Oct. 17, ranging in amounts from $5,000 to $80,000.
