LULING — Sheriff Greg Champagne was honored to present a recognition plaque to several businesses that provided aid to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

Those recognized at a staff meeting on June 15, 2022 were:

AT&T FirstNet – Ronny Caluda, sales manager & Lindsay Sclafini, sales executive

AT&T FirstNet swiftly deployed satellite service trucks to the parish to get communications systems back up for first responders.

Baron Oil – Joey Murray & Blake Murray

Mr. Joey Murray assisted with fuel needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida by keeping his store in Destrehan open for Sheriff’s Office units to fuel up, allowing the SCSO to continue to serve the parish. Mr. Blake Murray ensured the store was manned 24 hours a day to keep it operational for the fuel needs of the Sheriff’s Office.

NAPA Auto Parts – Keith Belcher, sales manager and Joei Celino, salesman

NAPA Auto Parts – The Boone Group provided various parts, equipment and supplies needed to stay operational during the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, even when their store was closed due to damage.

Tiger Tech Equipment – Jeff Robichaux, sales representative

Tiger Tech Equipment responded immediately after Hurricane Ida and repaired the generators at Headquarters and the Communications Center to help the SCSO stay operational.

Valero Energy Corporation – Taryn Rogers, manager of community relations and governmental affairs

Rogers provided several meals to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office during Hurricane Ida relief efforts when many areas of St. Charles Parish were without basic utilities and many stores were closed.

Wal-Mart – Darlene, manager

 

Boutte Walmart donated several items and supplies to the Sheriff’s Office to open an emergency temporary daycare for employees during Hurricane Ida recovery efforts. This allowed employees to continue to serve the parish. This occurred at a critical time when many areas of the parish were still without electricity and most of the daycares within the region were not operational.

United Cajun Navy – Todd Terrell, president

The United Cajun Navy arranged numerous meals and truckloads of supplies for officers and community. Members continuously assisted the SCSO daily while Hurricane Ida Relief operations were still ongoing.
