LUTCHER — A Gonzales man was arrested in Lutcher after deputies said he started a physical altercation with a youth soccer coach.
The Lutcher Police Department investigated the case and subsequently arrested Darron Paul Meliet, 46, of 14090 West Creek Drive in Gonzales after authorities said he started a physical confrontation with a coach, who is his girlfriend’s ex-husband.
Meliet was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and battery of a school athletic contest official.
St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin Jr. said the latter charge was “because (the victim) was a coach and effective in his capacity as a coach” at the time of the altercation.
Maj. Sid Berthelot of the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office said Meliet was arrested Nov. 22 and was released after he posted a $1,300 bond on the same day.
