1976 – Mrs Edwrine “Ma Ma” Stewart, the oldest resident in St. John the Baptist Parish, celebrated her 101st birthday at a large part at Peter Claver Hall in Reserve. Mrs. Stewart was surrounded by adoring family and friends for the occasion. Some of her immediate family, which already includes five generations, are (front row, from left) Beverly Williams, grand-daughter; Mrs. Stewart; Joseph “Big Boy” Stewart, one of two surviving sons (her other son, James, was ill and unable to attend the party); (second row) Kathleen Stewart, grand-daughter; and Norman Alexander, grandson. Mrs. Stewart, the widow of Joe Stewart, was born Dec. 13, 1875, the daughter of Edward Picou and Marie Antoinette Sambafa Picou.
