Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports body found by work crew

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Jimmy Travis reports that at approximately 10:15 am in the morning of July 6, a body was discovered in the median of interstate I-55 near Exit 28 in Hammond. The body was discovered by a grass cutting work crew.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the unidentified body, dressed in male clothing, was possibly stationary in that location for about 30 – days prior to being discovered. Detectives did not observe any signs of trauma to the body. The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office will attempt to determine the cause of death.
This investigation is on-going. Detectives are working to identify the body at this time.
