LAPLACE — Clay hauling for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Levee Protection Project has started in LaPlace. Sheriff Mike Tregre would like to remind motorists to exercise extreme caution and have patience as they travel along LaPlace highways. Several tandem trucks will be traveling from the Bonnet Carre Spillway, along Airline Highway to Main Street to La. 628 to La. 3217 and back to Airline Highway.
Please reduce speed in these areas, utilize good judgment, exercise patience and allow extra time for traveling these roadways.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the West Shore Levee Project originally scheduled for Monday, June 21 has been postponed due to the incoming tropical weather, according to Congressman Garret Graves.
