LUTCHER 19, DUTCHTOWN 14 — Lutcher quarterback Jontre Kirklin provided the eventual winning points on the road Friday night as his 30-yard touchdown run lifted his Bulldogs over 5A Dutchtown.
Lutcher’s Ricky Ross’ 70-yard fumble return for a touchdown came early in the second half and gave the Bulldogs a spark they needed.
The two teams combined for seven turnovers in the game.
Kirklin completed 10 of 17 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. He also led LHS in rushing with 80 yards.
Dutchtown scored with 1:19 left to play on a 56-yard touchdown pass by Brandt Fritsche to Cornelius Washington, but Lutcher recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal the win.
HAHNVILLE 35, SALMEN 14 — Nick Saltaformaggio’s debut as Hahnville head coach was a major success.
The Tigers trounced visiting Salmen Friday night, generating 413 total yards of offense.
Rickey Preston rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown while Bradley Aucoin rushed for two scores.
A Jai Knight fumble recovery helped HHS set the tone — and set up its first score of the night, an Aucoin 1-yard run.
Devonte Craven and Mike Neal each added touchdown runs.
