On April 27, 2021, a St. James Parish grand jury returned a True Bill of Indictment on  21-year-old Tarrence Beckett of 11623 Auburn Dr. Baton Rouge, LA. on the charges of 1^st Degree Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.

On February 5, 2021, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Paulina residence in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located 17-year-old Myron Mills Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mills was pronounced deceased on scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office. Detectives were able to identify Beckett as the shooter. After a lengthy investigation, detectives learned that the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Beckett who was subsequently apprehended and booked into the St. James Parish Jail. Two juvenile suspects, ages 15 and 17, were also arrested in connection with this incident.

Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig is the lead prosecutor on this case. Beckett is set to appear for arraignment on May 4, 2021.
