BATON ROUGE —Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards issued the following statement on the election of Troy Carter as congressman for Louisiana’s second congressional district.

“Congratulations to Congressman-elect Troy Carter on his victory this evening in the runoff election for Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district. Troy has proven himself as a strong leader in his hometown of New Orleans and in the Louisiana Legislature. Thanks to his commitment to public service and love for those he serves, I know he will represent the 2nd district well. Louisiana now, more than ever, needs bold advocates to fight for the many needs of our great state in Washington, D.C. I am confident that Troy will dutifully fill this role along with the rest of our current delegation, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
