SCSO helping with hazmat incident

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently working with Louisiana State Police and the Luling Volunteer Fire Department with a hazardous material incident on Paul Maillard Road near Canal Street in Luling, Louisiana.
Paul Maillard Road is closed surrounding the area of Canal Street while crews work to assess the situation.
The product is a commercial grade pool cleaning chemical that was released into a storage container at a pool cleaning business. The container was not intended to hold the chemical that was pumped into it.
There is currently no anticipated threat to the public but nearby residents may smell similar smells to that of a hotel pool.
