LSMSA welcome includes local students

Natchitoches – The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts welcomed 142 new students during the school’s annual matriculation ceremony Aug. 29 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
The ceremony recognized students’ accomplishments, reinforced their commitment to LSMSA and encouraged them to apply the necessary diligence to persevere until reaching commencement.
“I am excited to welcome each and every one of you to our family here at LSMSA,” said Neel Reddy, a senior from Destrehan and president of the Student Government Organization. “I would also like to extend congratulations from our community on making the choice to attend this institution.”
The new students represent 42 of the 64 parishes in Louisiana. The average grade point average of incoming students is 3.8 and the average ACT score is 24.

St. Charles Parish – Annemarie Picolo of Destrehan
St. James Parish – Emily Swisher Anderson of Gramercy
St. John the Baptist Parish – Janice Bourgeois and Jared McElveen, both of LaPlace
