Now that Thanksgiving is over, we move on and look forward to the next holidays, Christmas and New Year’s.

Since many Americans have taken Christ out of Christmas, it’s a time to eat, drink and be merry. During the period between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, we will witness more alcohol consumption and illegal drug use than at any other time. The alcohol commercials will be some of the most attractive and the drug dealers will have more requests for their mind-altering chemicals.

The original celebration of Christmas was to honor Jesus as our Savior. The “Merry Christmas” greeting we used to hear is replaced with “Happy Holidays.”

The liberals, with the cooperation of the government and many business establishments, have sent a message, loud and clear, that we don’t want to offend others with our religious beliefs.

Four years ago, President Donald Trump, on his victory tour in Michigan and Wisconsin, opened his remarks with, “Merry Christmas! It’s not ‘Happy Holidays’ anymore.” He shared that he believes the businesses will realize that it’s about the meaning of Christmas and not just another holiday.

I was excited to hear that message, believing that the majority of Americans would accept the message. I’m sad to admit that nothing has changed. I’ve received many Christmas cards this year and only one mentioned the name of Jesus.

Evidently, we don’t take seriously what God’s Word says in Matthew 10:32-33, “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” According to John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The bottom line is there’s no other way.

As a laborer in God’s ministry of Get High on Life, I’ll be forever grateful for the privilege of serving the King of Kings! I pray for the wisdom to continue in His service.
