LAPLACE — After reeling from a huge loss from De La Salle last week, the St. Charles Catholic Comets came out smoking against the Franklinton Demons for
their homecoming game Friday. The Comets made an impeccable showing defeating the Demons 43-0 on Friday night.

The second home game made for a celebratory homecoming for the Comets as they unleashed a fury of points on Franklinton. In the first quarter, the Comets went back and forth on downs with the Demons as they exchanged positions on the field. The Demon defensive line held strong, trying to keep the Comets from scoring. But a 12-yards touchdown by Jackson Jensen and a two-point conversion by Kendell Harris put the Comets on the board for 8-0 with 3:50 left in the first quarter.

The Comets would come back again after a fumble recovery and Davon Sturgis would score a 2-yard touchdown to end the first quarter with a score of 15-0. Early into the second
quarter, the Comets would add another touchdown from Kaiden Jones to make the score 22-0 with 9:12 left until the end of the first half.

The Demons defense continued to fight to keep the Comets from scoring. However, many mistakes such as a dropped punt and fumble kept them from capitalizing on the
Comets. The Comets continued to bring the heat amidst many penalty flags and ended the first half with a score of 22-0. More heat and pressure by the Comets into the second half
kept the Demons down and the Comets kept bringing in the hailstorm of touchdowns as they would score again at 5:52 in the third quarter to make the score 29-0.

The Comet defensive line would not let up and consistently kept the Demons down. Another Comet touchdown by Logan Forsythe with a successful extra point boosted the Comets score to 1:57 left would help end the third quarter with a 36-0 score. Early in the fourth, the Comets’ Troy Johnson would make the final touchdown with 9:56 left in the quarter, which would be the final score of the game.

Franklinton tried desperately to get up the field, but they were no match for the Comet defense. The Comets have a tougher schedule ahead with Newman, South Plaquemine and Cohen Prep to round out their season. Great job, Comets! Happy Homecoming!
