I wish I had a pack of Lysol wipes for every time I’ve called out, “I’ll be there as soon as I find my purse,” or “Would someone call my phone so I can find it?”

I don’t misplace many things, just the same things over and over. I’ve heard that Gingkoba helps with the memory, but I keep forgetting to buy it. I’ll be okay as long as I can find my phone to call my husband because he can always tell me where to find my missing items. Michael is far too kind to tell me how many meetings I’ve interrupted by calling him to ask, “Where are my sunglasses?”

But no one could help me the time (well, one of times) I lost my keys. I remembered putting them in a zippered compartment of my purse. Later when I went to get the keys they weren’t there. I searched my purse; I searched my car; and I searched my house. No keys. I did, however, find other things: receipts for the previous year’s Christmas gifts, a gift card with no balance, and candy too old to eat. Useless things.

Days later, I emptied my purse, tossed it aside and heard a clank when it landed. I felt the lining and discovered that my keys had fallen through a split in the lining and were trapped at the bottom of the purse. The keys had been there all along, but because I wasn’t looking in the right place, I wasted a lot of time.

Have you ever done that, not with your keys, but with other areas in your life? Have you ever searched for something to fill the emptiness inside? Oh, you’ll find lots of activities, but you’ll soon realize they are useless. Then you learn that only Jesus can fill the hole in your heart, and He’s been right there all along.

Have you sought after peace, joy or love? There are many voices out there with many different opinions, but unless your counsel is from the Word of God, it’s useless. And just think, Jesus has been there all through your search, waiting for you to turn to Him.

Are you wondering how to raise your children or handle other relationships in your life? You don’t have to go any further than God’s Word. He has the answer. Don’t waste your time on volumes of literature that are useless unless they are based on principles that line up with the Word of God.

With all my heart, I believe that Jesus is the key that will unlock the answer to every problem in our lives, and He is but a prayer away.
