LAPLACE — The newly reactivated St. John NAACP is hosting “Voices Against Inhumane Violence” to combat racism, domestic terrorism and unjust policing.
The event will be held at noon on Saturday, June 13 outside of the Parish Government Building at 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
NAACP President Shondrell Perrilloux asks the community to join hand-in-hand in unity and peace with the elected officials of St. John Parish.
“We are seeking changes within the public safety system to ban knee holds as an acceptable use of force. We seek changes within policies and procedures to ensure the public system is flawless of corrupt and compromised practices,” Perrilloux said.
The NAACP is the Nation’s oldest, boldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization. For more information, please call 504-232-0966, email sjbpnaacp@gmail.com or visit sjbparishnaacp.org.
