Saturday Report: St. John reporting 772 cases in COVID-19

LAPLACE — As of the Saturday update from the Louisiana Department of Health, there have been 772 reported cases of COVID-19 and 71 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish.
On Friday, there were 771 recorded cases and 71 deaths in St. John Parish.
St. Charles Parish has 577 reported cases and 39 deaths, while St. James has 247 reported cases and 19 deaths.
Statewide, there are 29,140 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 429 cases since yesterday’s report.
There have been 1,950 deaths statewide, which is an increase of 23 since Friday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,545 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 208 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 17,303 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of April 27.

Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
