LAKE CHARLES—Lutcher High School Class of 2008 alumnus and standout quarterback Blaine Gautier was recently named an assistant coach at McNeese State University in Lake Charles under its new head coach Frank Wilson. Gautier played at Lutcher under coach Tim Detiller, leading his team to a District 10-3A title in 2007.

Gautier then went on to play college ball at University of Louisiana in Lafayette, where he set UL season records for yards passing (2,958), passing touchdowns (23), completion percentage (.628), passing efficiency (153.6), total offense (3,444) and touchdowns responsible for (26) as a junior. He ranks fourth in school history with 27 career touchdown passes.

Since 2015, Gautier has been a wide receiver assistant/offensive analyst at Louisiana State University. He has also served as a teacher and a coach at St. James High School.

In his new position, Gautier will serve as a wide receivers coach. This will be his first on-field college job. The Edgard native is the son of David and Deidre Gautier.
