NORTH POLE – It was announced that Santa Claus will make a series of pre-Christmas appearances in St. John the Baptist Parish. He will be visiting the library branches throughout the parish. Ginger McTinsel, Chief Elf Officer (CEO) of Santa Claus Enterprises, stated that there will also be elves on hand to assist at each event.
As part of this visit, each library will have games, crafts and activities. The following itinerary was established by Mrs. Claus, herself:
- Central Library – Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.
- Garyville Library – Monday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m.
- Edgard Library – Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m.
- Reserve Library – Thursday, Dec. 19 at 5 p.m.
Children in the River Parishes are reminded to be good (for goodness’ sake), to take good care of their toys, to be kind to other children, adults, elves, small animals, and, especially, reindeer. Speaking of being kind to reindeer, Mrs. Claus sent her famous recipe for Reindeer Trail Mix.
- One 20 oz package miniature pretzels
- One 17.5 oz package crispy corn cereal squares (such as Corn Chex® or Cap’n Crunch®)
- One 16 oz jar salted dry-roasted peanuts
- One 14 oz package candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (such as M&M’s®)
- One24 oz package white chocolate chips
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, mix well together and store in an airtight container. Be sure to leave some out for reindeer on Christmas Eve. The great thing about Mrs. Claus’ recipe is that people can eat it too (with your parents’ permission). Even Santa has been known to indulge in Reindeer Trail Mix.
Santa wanted to let everyone know how impressed he was with the library’s recent stuffed animal sleepover and wanted to share some pictures below of the animals that the library sent him.
