LAPLACE – The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for our area until 7 a.m. Wednesday in advance of a cold front moving through Monday night. Residents and businesses are advised to take freeze preparedness measures at home and at work.
Preparations include wrapping and protecting exposed pipes, protecting sensitive plants and crops and safely sheltering outdoor pets and farm animals. Proper use of heating equipment is urged to avoid fires.
Please also ensure back flow preventers are protected through the use of an enclosure or insulated bags. Insulators can be found at local hardware stores.
Temperatures are predicted to fall into the 40s tonight and stay in the low 30s/40s Tuesday and Wednesday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to accompany the cold weather, but no winter precipitation is anticipated at this time. A warming trend is expected Thursday.
Please stay tuned to local weather stations for weather updates. Please also sign up to receive emergency notifications to your home phone, cell phone, email or SMS text messaging device.
