LAPLACE — Aimee’s Dance Academy celebrated its move to a new location June 30 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception.

The new studio, located at 3113 U.S. 51 in LaPlace, is the former location of Andy’s Amusements.

The building, with its castle appearance, has been transformed into a dance studio with three dance room areas, as well as a spacious lobby.

Aimee Weber Mulkey, owner and director of Aimee’s Dance Academy, has 29 years of dance training. She has won many dance titles and awards such as choreographer of the year and Miss American All-Star.

She has danced at performances and events throughout the country, and said having a studio has been her dream since she was a little girl. Aimee’s Dance Academy offers ballet, tap, jazz, tumbling, lyrical, cheerleading/dance team prep, hip-hop and modern classes.

Also offered are a marching group, competition team and an adult class. The studio first opened in January 2006, and since then has had students compete at numerous competitions and fairs.
