GRAMERCY — Four students are moving straight from high school to full-time positions with Noranda Alumnia in Gramercy.
Canera Miles, Drake Boudwin, Gabriel Bland and Dillun Allen of Lutcher High School were selected for apprenticeships after completing a 12-week program during senior year. All four will begin work within the next few months.
They were among 12 students enrolled in the course to compete for available apprenticeship opportunities. All students were required to be NCCER certified in welding and pipefitting before entering the program.
At the conclusion of the program, students were invited to interview for positions at Noranda upon graduation or their 18th birthday.
Miles, Boudwin, Bland and Allen were honored last week at a signing day hosted by Noranda Alumina and the St. James Parish Career and Technology Center.
