LUTCHER — The selfless and talented work of Nili Rougee and Anithra Prembrook help set the standard at St. James Parish Hospital, where the duo was recently announced as Employees of the Quarter.
Rougee has worked at St. James Parish Hospital full-time for more than seven years as a registered nurse, serving today as Employee Health Nurse and Care Coordinator for Poche Medical Clinic.
A 1992 graduate of Thibodaux High School, she completed her prerequisites at Nicholls State University and obtained an ASN degree from Charity School of Nursing.
Nurse Rachel Becnel nominated Rougee on behalf of a patient’s family. The nomination discussed how Rougee stepped in to help a patient who had an accident while waiting to see a physician.
“Nili (Rougee) came to the patient and family’s rescue. She reassured them that everything was going to be alright and that she was going to take care of the situation. She cleaned up and even got needed supplies for the patient. Nili handled the situation with dignity and compassion. She demonstrated a positive attitude and showed how to take ownership of a situation,” stated the nomination.
Rougee said her job allows her to spend quality time with patients and families, who she stresses the importance of preventative health and available screenings.
“I enjoy getting to know patients and listening to their stories,” Rougee said. “Treating people with compassion and dignity is something that I take to heart. The support I receive from Dr. Randall and Dr. Jerry, my coworkers and my managers is priceless. In addition, stepping in as employee health nurse allows me to be directly involved with employees, which has given me extreme job satisfaction. I am thankful that St. James Parish Hospital has given me these opportunities to grow as a nurse.”
Prembrook has worked at St. James Parish Hospital for almost three years and is currently an environmental services technician. She graduated from East St. John High School in 2002 and was nominated by nurse supervisor Tanya Morris.
Morris said Prembrook is a dedicated, proven team player, who willingly fills in for others.
“Anithra (Prembrook) did an incredible job assisting several shifts and provided superb care for our patients,” Morris said. “She saw a need and did not hesitate to step in. She answered call bells, delivered items to patients and participated in providing safe care. I can’t say enough about her effort in caring for our patients or her conscientiousness in jumping in and assisting.”
Prembrook said she loves her job and believes in getting work done in a timely manner.
“I have been working in this field for a long time and thank St. James Parish Hospital for this wonderful recognition,” Prembrook said.
The hospital’s executive leadership team chose the employees for the honor.
