GARYVILLE — Two local men were made to lie on the ground and robbed at gunpoint during an altercation that has left police with little to go on as they pursue arrests.
The two male victims told St. John Sheriff’s Office detectives they were walking at 10:45 p.m. Thursday in the Daisy and Sherman Walker streets area of Garyville when an unidentified man approached.
The victims said the assailant removed a gun from his pants, ordered them onto the ground and struck them on the back of the head with the firearm.
While the victims were on the ground, the gunman stole their cell phones, bank cards and money.
Police said the gunman told the victims to run from the scene, at which time he fired two gunshots into the air.
The victims refused medical treatment when working with authorities.
Sheriff’s Office officials said there is no descriptive information to release to the public concerning the gunman because he wore all black with his face covered.
Those with information about the armed robbery are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 985-359-8644, the Sheriff’s Office Tips Line at 985-359-TIPS or submit a tip at stjohnsheriff.org/forms/forms/crime-tips.
