LAPLACE — A local teenager has been arrested for first degree rape.

According to the St. John Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is a 16-year-old male from LaPlace. The suspect was arrested Monday.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said the alleged victim is also underage and related to the suspect, and therefore, police are releasing little information about their investigation.

Police believe the alleged assault took place approximately one month ago.

According to Tregre, the investigation was initiated in Jefferson Parish, and no bond was set.
