NEW ORLEANS — Federal prosecutors secured a second life-in-prison sentence in the prosecution of a heroin and cocaine conspiracy that targeted St. John the Baptist and St. Charles parishes.

U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon sentenced Corey Session, 44, of St. Rose to life imprisonment plus five years last week.

Last week’s sentencing followed Session’s five-day trial and conviction in August.

Session was the last defendant sentenced, according to U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser.

• LaPlace’s Andree “Dre” Staggers was convicted of heroin and cocaine distribution conspiracy and firearms violations and sentenced to life imprisonment plus five years.

• LaPlace’s Gregory “Lil Gregg” London was sentenced to ten years in prison for cocaine distribution conspiracy.

• St. Rose’s Leonard “Leonard London” Morrison was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of a firearm as an armed career criminal.

Session was convicted of conspiracy to distribute a kilogram or more of heroin and 500 grams or more of cocaine, along with firearms charges.

Session’s additional five-year sentence was mandatory for his conviction of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

According to evidence presented at trial, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted an investigation from January 2015 through February 2016, concerning cocaine and heroin distribution in St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes.

The federal investigation, which was conducted in coordination with state and local law enforcement, resulted in the seizure of nearly a kilogram of heroin, along with scales, money counters, firearms and more than $480,000 in cash.

Strasser praised the conviction as the result of a coordinated effort of federal and state law enforcement authorities within the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program.

Assistant United States Attorneys Matthew R. Payne, Brittany L. Reed and David Howard Sinkman handled the prosecution and trial.

Also assisting in the prosecution was Special Assistant United States Attorney Andre Gaudin.
