LAPLACE — A local man has been jailed after police said he sold heroin to a woman who died following an overdose in LaPlace.
Steven Anthony Sharlow, 56, of LaPlace is being held in custody in lieu of an $86,500 bond, charged with distribution of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to distribute Adderall.
Sharlow’s arrest stems from a St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation into the death of 42-year-old Tina Juster, of Bush, who passed away nearly two weeks ago.
Deputies responded to an unresponsive female at a residence on Johnny Court at approximately 10:45 a.m. Sept. 1, discovering Juster inside the home, unresponsive on a bed.
The St. John Coroner’s Office pronounced Juster deceased on the scene.
While on scene, detectives learned Juster used heroin.
“During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Steven Sharlow of LaPlace as the subject who sold heroin to Juster,” a Sheriff’s Office release said. “Based on investigation, detectives obtained a judicial arrest warrant for the distribution of heroin, as well as search warrants for Sharlow’s residence to locate additional evidence.”
Detectives arrested Sharlow Thursday (Sept. 6) at his home in the 100 block of West Second Street in LaPlace.
Detectives located additional heroin under a bed and other items of interest during their search of Sharlow’s residence, police said.
