$40K in stolen items, heroin found in LaPlace

LAPLACE — Police raided a local man’s home Wednesday, seizing heroin and $40,000 worth of stolen items from a Kenner business, authorities said.
Clyde Matthew Madere Jr., 50, of LaPlace, was arrested the same day, charged with felony possession of heroin, illegal possession of stolen things and possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia.
St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division received a report Aug. 29 that Madere was in possession of a storage container containing tools and various truck parts stolen from Jackson Truck and Trailer in Kenner.
Local detectives began conducting surveillance at Madere’s home and observed items listed in the incident report as stolen, police said, obtaining a search warrant for Madere’s residence on Tassin Court.

Criminal Investigations Division personnel and Special Operations Division officers executed the search warrant Wednesday, apprehending Madere in the process.
During the search, officers said they located the storage container and seized heroin.
With assistance from Jackson Truck and Trailer employees, the stolen property valued at approximately $40,000 was identified and recovered.
Madere posted bond and was released Wednesday.
Police said the suspect has been arrested more than 40 times on various drug charges and other offenses in St. John Parish since 1984.
