LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District is hosting a community celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony for East St. John Preparatory Academy.

Students are returning to the campus this upcoming school year after attending classes at a temporary site following a fire that destroyed the main areas of the school building.

Those areas have now been rebuilt, and guests will be able to tour the new school building after the ribbon cutting.

The event is scheduled for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 400 Ory Drive in LaPlace.
