RESERVE — A Reserve man is in custody, charged with raping an underage minor.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, detectives began an investigation of the suspect July 15 after learning of allegations that the man engaged in sexual relations with a minor. He was arrested Friday.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said due to the case’s sensitive nature and age of the victim, no further details would be released.

Police did not release the suspect’s name in a Tuesday morning release, saying only that the local man was being held in custody in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
