LAPLACE – The temperature wasn’t the only thing that fell last week, as gas prices continued to drop across the state.
Average retail gasoline prices in Louisiana fell 1.4 cents per gallon last week and averaged $3.09, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 2,436 gas outlets in Louisiana. Louisiana prices fell one cent lower than the national average.
Including the change in gas prices in Louisiana during the past week, prices as of Monday were 11.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 2.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 6.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 3.4 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
The lowest priced gas in LaPlace, as of yesterday, according to Gasbuddy.com, was $2.94 per gallon at Citgo, located at 901 E. Airline Highway in front of River Forest Subdivision.
“As expected, the deep freeze during the last week impacted more than just the air temperature, but also kept a grip on gasoline prices,” GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said in a press release.
He also said that because of the slow demand that January and February typically create, prices should remain relatively static this week.
