Keller: Have you asked Jesus about your sleeping?

I’ve had a good and exciting life and am grateful for a faithful and forgiving wife.
I wish I would have spent more quality time with each one of my children when I was raising them. Now in my golden years, I often reflect on certain experiences that I treasure with each child.
Monday night, I was thinking about my son, Matt, who is now 57 years old.
He had a habit of waking up in the middle of the night and coming in bed with my wife and I.
I would get aggravated, but was too tired to bring him back in his room.
When he was a little older, I thought I would use Jesus to help me with the problem. As I tucked him in one night, we prayed and asked Jesus to let him sleep in his own bed all night.
I then explained that if we prayed, Jesus would help him sleep in his own bed.
In the middle of the night, he again came in our bed.
The next morning, I was angry and said, “Did you ask Jesus to help you stay in your bed?” He was afraid and didn’t answer.
I continued, “Did you ask Jesus to help you?”
Nervously, he said, “I did, but I told Him I was cold and He told me to go sleep with your dad.”
That’s been over 50 years ago and I still enjoy sharing that story.
