Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Englade Pitre, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 10:05 p.m.

She was a native of Reserve and a resident of Montegut.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service Saturday, June 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut from 9 a.m. until service time. A Memorial Mass will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born Aug. 5, 1934, and raised in Reserve. Elizabeth graduated from St. Peter Parochial School, Leon Godchaux High School in 1952 and Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1955. She married the love of her life, Norval Joseph Pitre, on Oct. 26, 1957.

Elizabeth is survived by daughters Connie Fabre and husband Brian of Baton Rouge, Janet Claire Pitre and fiance’ Pedro “Pete” Flores of San Antonio, Texas, Kathy Ann Pitre of Montegut; son Roy Andrew Pitre and wife Kathy Marie Savoie of Montegut; grandchildren Jamie Lynn Fabre LeBlanc and husband Zac, Jeffrey Bryant Fabre and wife Lauren Elizabeth Hunter, Stefan Joseph Pitre and fiance’ Caittie Rose McCue and Gavin Paul Pitre; great grandchildren Collin Davis LeBlanc, Grant Travis LeBlanc, Hunter Bryant Fabre and Andrew Allen Fabre (arriving in September 2018); sister Lynda Englade Smith and husband Wilbur of East Point, Fla.; sister-in-law Barbara Englade of Lincoln, Texas; and her best friend, Betty H. Simon of Houma.    

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Norval Joseph Pitre; parents Roy and Claracy “Clara” Kittrell Englade; brother Jesse Oseme’ Englade; sister Evelyn Englade Sutton and brother-in-law Floyd “Lin” Sutton.

Elizabeth felt blessed to have grown up in a close-knit family that continued throughout her adulthood. During her career, she worked as a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics and Gynecology, a profession she absolutely loved.

She always gave people the benefit of the doubt. She believed in live and let live. She considered her friends forever friends. Her love for her family was never ending and will hold a special place in their hearts forever.

The family would like to give special thanks to her Doctors, Nurse Nikki and CCU Nurses at TGMC for their care and compassion toward Elizabeth during her illness.
