Richard G. Oubre Sr., 97, was born on June 7, 1916, and passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. He was a native of Vacherie and a resident of Garyville.

He is survived by his children, Cathy Montz (Jimmie), Rick Oubre (Mary) and Cheryl Louque (Brien); his seven grandchildren, Kerri, Rusty, Krissy, Kassi, Brien Paul, Jared, and Rachel; and his great-grandchildren, Connor, Cameron, Justin, Kye, Laiken, Kaleigh, Kaden, Reece, Wryn, Cade and Cole.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Navarra Oubre, his parents, Rene and Odile Louquette Oubre, his brothers, Rene, Claude, Pierre and Hubert Oubre, and sisters, Armantine Klibert and Melba Cambre.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Garyville from 9 a.m. until funeral time at noon. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank the doctor and staff of St. Catherine Hospice for their care of Mr. Richard. In lieu of flowers, Masses can be said in his honor.
