Freezing temperatures on the way

LAPLACE – In preparation of cooler temperatures impacting the region over the next week, residents are advised to take freeze preparedness measures at home and work.
Freeze preparations include wrapping and protecting exposed pipes, protecting sensitive plants and crops and safely sheltering outdoor pets and farm animals. Proper use of heating equipment is urged to avoid fires.
Temperatures are predicted to fall into the 30s and 40s tonight and remain low through next week. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to accompany the cold weather, but no winter precipitation is anticipated. In addition, a wind advisory has been issued until Friday, Jan. 3, at 6 a.m.
