Knock, knock: Here’s a punch in the nose

LAPLACE — Some arrests come with more fight than others.
According to the St. John Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Eli Juan Moore argued with deputies before initiating a physical altercation as they attempted to apprehend the LaPlace resident Monday at a local business.
“Moore was quickly apprehended by deputies,” a Sheriff’s Office release read, before detailing a list of narcotics discovered on Moore’s person.
Police said they recovered 12 hydrocodone pills, a bag of green, leaf-like substance appearing to be marijuana, five grams of a white powder that appeared to be cocaine, eight grams of a white rock-like substance that appeared to be crack cocaine and $677 in cash.
The suspected drugs were sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for testing.
Police sought Moore’s arrest after a LaPlace man said he answered his door on Joe Parquet Circle at 3:30 a.m. May 5 to quickly find the suspect punch him in the nose before running off to a vehicle and fleeing.
According to the victim, the early-morning assault was spill over from a May 4 verbal argument between the two.
Based on investigation, police said judicial warrants were obtained for Moore’s arrest.
Moore was booked with resisting an officer with force or violence, possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, entering/remaining after being forbidden – immovable structure and simple battery.
Moore was transferred to the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office, local authorities said.
