St. John Public Schools sets musical performances

LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish Public School students will present a trio of musical performances open to the public.

On Wednesday, the district’s music students will present their annual Spring Showcase of Music.

The performance takes place at 6 p.m. at LaPlace Elementary School and features performances by students from Emily C. Watkins Elementary School, John L. Ory Communication Arts Magnet School, East St. John High School, East St. John Preparatory Academy, Fifth Ward Elementary School, LaPlace Elementary School, West St. John Elementary School, Garyville-Mt. Airy Math and Science Magnet School and Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School.

Admission is free.

On May 15, students in the district’s Talented Music Program will present their 2018 Talented Music Spring Concert at 6:30 p.m. at John L. Ory Communication Arts Magnet School.

Students will perform vocals, guitar, piano, drums and ukulele in songs ranging from Frank Sinatra to John Legend.

Admission is free.

The public will have four chances to catch the final music event, a performance of Beauty and the Beast by Talented Music students and the John L. Ory Communication Arts Magnet School choir. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. each night from May 16-19.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students.
