RA & SCC eye title runs; West St. John’s softball season ends

SULPHUR — The No. 6 seed Riverside Academy Lady Rebels softball team is preparing to face No. 3 seed St. Thomas Aquinas at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Division III state quarterfinals, hosted in Sulphur.
Head Coach Tamra Regalo anticipates a great ball game against a solid opposing team.
If successful, the Lady Rebels would face Notre Dame or Patrick Taylor Science/Tech on Saturday.
St. Charles Catholic
The No. 3 seed St. Charles Catholic Lady Comets softball team travels to Sulphur this week to battle No. 11 seed E.D. White at 2:30 p.m. Thursday on Field 19 in the Division II quarterfinals.
Head coach Ty Monica said intense practice is key to advancing to the semifinals on Saturday for a battle against De La Salle or Archbishop Hannan.
West St. John
The West St. John Lady Rams softball team fell 11-1 Saturday to No. 1 seed Oak Grove in the regional round of playoffs.
Head coach Kenneth Streeter said Shiaa Thomas, Talika Howard, Amiya Lumar and Tye Walters made strong plays all the way to the end of a tremendous season.
