St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office announces officer promotions

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has promoted six command staff members for exemplary service. Sheriff Mike Tregre announced this on Monday, Mar. 10, in a press release on its Facebook page.

In the Criminal Investigation Division, Capt. Brandon Barlow was elevated from Interim Commander to Commander. In February 2017, Captain Barlow and Lieutenant Pineda investigated the homicide of Andrew Jasmin, resulting in four arrests.

In 2022, Ahkemon Bardell Jr. was sentenced to life without parole for Jasmin’s murder. The other three arrested subjects received similar sentences.

Capt. Brandon was awarded the Award of Excellence at the International Homicide Investigations Association’s training conference held in New Orleans in 2022.

Other promoted officers include Lt. Kaiana Knight, in the Corrections Division, who was promoted to Captain; Lt. Brian Schum, in the Narcotics Division, who was promoted to Captain; and Lt. Jenni Estraca, in the Crime Scene Division, who also received promotion to Captain.

Sgt. Steven Faucheux was promoted to Lieutenant in the Human Resources Division, while Sgt. Darlene Cooper from the School Resource Officer Division also received a promotion to Lieutenant.
