Traffic stop by St Charles Parish deputies leads to narcotics arrest in Avondale

A routine traffic stop on Highway 90 near River Ridge Drive led to the arrest of an Avondale woman after deputies of St Charles Parish discovered drugs and a firearm in her vehicle.

Ashley Bosby, 35, of Avondale, was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon , and obstruction of justice, among other violations.

On Feb. 2, St. Charles Parish deputies stopped a blue Toyota CHR for a traffic violation. They identified the driver as 35-year-old Ashley Bosby and detected the smell of marijuana from the vehicle.

Deputies asked Bosby and her passenger to exit the vehicle to conduct a search. Upon inspection, authorities discovered 38 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of marijuana, nine zip-lock bags containing additional marijuana, a Taurus 9mm Model G2C handgun with a magazine, and 9mm ammunition.

Bosby was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice through evidence tampering.
Additionally, Bosby was cited for various vehicle violations, including improper equipment, illegal window tint, and failure to have a required license plate light. A 29th Judicial District Court (JDC) attachment was also issued as part of the charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
