St. Charles Parish to Open Cooling Shelter due to Excessive Heat

Excessive Heat Warning issued by National Weather Service for Tuesday, June 27, 2023
Hahnville, LA –St. Charles Parish will open a cooling shelter today from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling. Residents wishing to utilize the Cooling Shelter should bring everything they need to be comfortable with them, and pets are not allowed except for service animals.
Heat indexes are expected to reach between 110° and 120° Fahrenheit today and excessive heat conditions are likely to continue through Saturday. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, and check on relatives and neighbors. St. Charles Parish residents should ensure they’re signed up for SCP Alerts by texting SCPALERTS to 888-777.
