On Friday, May 12, 2023, about 5 p.m, officers responded to the area of Madewood Road in LaPlace in reference to a preliminary report of an attempted carjacking involving two male subjects, with one having a gun.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 62-year-old male victim who reported that he was sitting in his truck in his yard in the 1200 block of Madewood Road where two unknown males in black clothes with hoodies approached him from both sides of his vehicle. Opening the passenger side door, one subject held a gun and ordered him out of the vehicle, demanding his wallet. The victim reported that when he refused to hand over his wallet and exit the vehicle, the male on the passenger side pistol whipped him while the subject on the driver’s side grabbed his shirt and attempted to pull him out of the vehicle. As the victim yelled for help, the subjects fled on foot. Emergency medical services arrived and treated the victim for minor injuries.
Subsequently, officers discovered along Madewood black boots, black socks, black clothes, and a black ski mask belonging to the juveniles.
