SJSO: Convicted Felon Faces Illegal Drugs and Firearms Charges

Trevin Johnson, 34, of LaPlace was arrested Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in connection to illegal drugs and firearms activity in St. John the Baptist Parish.
In late February 2023, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division began an investigation into Johnson, a four-time convicted felon, and his involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics, specifically fentanyl and marijuana, in St. John the Baptist Parish.
During Johnson’s apprehension and subsequent search warrants at two residences on May 10, 2023, detectives located and recovered marijuana, oxycodone, and methamphetamine. Five firearms including two handguns, two AK type pistols, one AR type pistol, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, and over $3,000 in cash also were discovered. Through prior experience and training, detectives know that the evidence recovered was consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics.
The search warrants were executed by St. John Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Louisiana State Police SWAT at Johnson’s addresses of 977 Whitlow Court and 1017 Whitlow Court in LaPlace. During the execution of the search warrant on 1017 Whitlow Court, Johnson was found to be in possession of one of the AK type pistols. The AK type pistol was fully loaded with one in the chamber.
Johnson was booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); possession of firearm/carrying concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony); illegal carrying of weapon with CDS – 14:95E; transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity (felony); prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (misd); possession of firearm/carrying concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony); and possession of oxycodone. He also was wanted on a contempt of court warrants (misd). He was released May 12, 2023.
Johnson has a long arrest history including, but not limited to Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery with Dangerous Weapons, First Degree Robbery, Second Degree Murder, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Illegal Use of Weapons/Dangerous Instrumentalities, Domestic Abuse Battery, Distribution of a Schedule I CDS – Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule II (Meth), Possession of Marijuana, Prohibited acts / Drugs Paraphernalia, Possession with intent to Distribute MDMA, Obstruction of Justice, Flight from an Officer, Resisting an Officer, Child Desertion, Possession of Firearm/ Carry Concealed Weapons by Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearm, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Kendall Cornish and Derrick Gray were also arrested at 1017 Whitlow Court on related drug and/or firearms charges during the execution of the warrant.
